Founded in A.D.1189 (Bunji 5, Kamakura era ), Shinto Guardian Shrine of the Tono Region.
We have a lot of rituals throughout the year that have been supported by parishioners and worshippers since the shrine was founded.
Tono's unique traditional music and dance are performed in front of the enshrined kami (deities)during festivals.
Especially at the annual Reitai-sai festival held on September 15th, one can see all forms of Tono's particular local performing arts and entertainment such as yabusame(archery on horseback), kagura(dedicatory music and dance)and shishiodori (deer dance)in and around the shrine all day long.
The shrine's local rites and performances are so unique that they are famous all over Japan.
